Phil

[Verse 1]
Some loves arrive like thunder, some come soft and slow
Ours began with laughter, just two kids who didn't know
I looked up and saw you hanging from that old oak tree
We weren't looking for love, but love was looking for me

[Chorus]
Oh Phil, you're my rock, my safe place to land
So loving and patient, you always understand
I thought I knew love back in 1972
But I'd barely scratched the surface of how deep I love you

[Verse 2]
Nineteen and twenty-one, we didn't know a thing
You held me up through nursing school, then I held you through your dream
Then Jamie came, the road got rough, we stumbled now and then
But love kept bringing us back home to start it all again
Then Jenna made our circle whole, and the years flew by like wind

[Chorus]
Oh Phil, you're my rock, my safe place to land
So loving and patient, you always understand
I thought I knew love back in 1972
But I'd barely scratched the surface of how deep I love you

[Bridge]
We both had storms and demons, nights we couldn't see
But we chose forgiveness, and you never let go of me

[Verse 3]
Now our babies have their babies, and they light up when you're near
What an amazing papa you've become through all these years
These last years brought sorrow and the doubt that weighed me down
But you were always there for me, my feet on solid ground

[Chorus]
Oh Phil, you're my rock, my safe place to land
So loving and patient, you always understand
Fifty-four years since 1972
And I'm still finding out how deep I love you

[Outro]
Forever and always, Phil, I'll love you
Forever and always, I'll love you
